It’s Not Your Fault

It’s not our fault that we don’t know how to deal with common emotional issues like anxiety. We learn about feelings and emotions in our families when we’re growing up and we generally follow the role modeling we experienced with our parents.

Unfortunately, the field of psychology has only learned healthy emotional skills in the past 20-30 years, so most of our parents simply didn’t have the knowledge and training they needed to be good role models to us.

We don’t often get training for dealing with our emotions in grade school or high school, but somehow we’re expected to magically know what to do. It can be very painful when you try so hard to be healthy and happy and then you fail miserably again.

I Know How It Feels

What I find in my psychotherapy practice is that many people are very well-intentioned, but no one ever taught them what it takes to be healthy and happy. I know how that feels.

In my early 20’s, I was one of those lost, depressed souls who wanted more than anything to be happy and healthy, but I just didn’t know what was wrong or what I could do differently. It took many years for me to learn the skills I know today. Fortunately, I can now teach them to others much more quickly than it took me to learn them.

Let Me Show You What I’ve Learned

I’ve been a psychotherapist in Spokane for 30 years. Over the years, I’ve worked extensively with anxiety, depression, poor self-esteem and abuse issues. I love helping my clients to overcome the challenging issues they face.

In my work as a psychotherapist, I try to give others the chance I didn’t have. I want to provide that help and guidance people often need so desperately. I want to help you learn what it takes to create a healthy, happy life, where you feel strong, confident, happy and joyful!
